We express this endorsement on the basis of track record, principle, and vision of the candidates for the media sector and the Filipino people. As a Union for press freedom, media welfare, and democratic rights of the people, we align with the said candidates’ platforms, especially for an alternative politics and hope.
Being a journalism-oriented organization for students, KABATAAN PARTYLIST stood in the forefront of championing free, quality, and accessible education that led to the passage of Free Tuition Law. The partylist has always been a close ally in the lobbying for the Campus Press Freedom Bill in Congress to safeguard the rights and welfare of campus journalists in schools and universities.
We also highlight in this endorsement our unwavering confidence for our alumna, Amira “Mek” Lidasan, who served as former Chairperson of UJP-UP and the College of Mass Communication Student Council. Her profound media leadership, extending to promote and defend Indigenous Peoples and Moro rights, exemplifies her intersectional brilliance anchored on advocacy journalism. We have no doubt that in this regard, Ate Mek will uphold her roots to serve the wider Filipino masses.
As a Union for media welfare, we explore this endorsement for national elections because we recognize the values of truth and justice as a building block of our nationalism and democracy. It is in this regard that we reify the alternative, to contrast the evil and darkness brought by the Marcos-Duterte regime.
Kabataan at taumbayan naman sa Kongreso!
