Frontliner is the official student publication of the UP Diliman Extension Programs in Pampanga and Olongapo (UPDEPPO).

After a long period of inactivity, Frontliner has successfully revived itself in 2024 and continues to operate through online releases. However, one of the publication’s biggest challenges to date is its lack of access to funding.

As of July 2026, Frontliner has accumulated around P500,000 from the P20 student pub fee collected from students and its trust fund, according to former editor-in-chief Sophia Kris Alday. However, administrative processes have prevented the publication from accessing these resources.

Alday also said the UPDEPPO administration has yet to settle its outstanding balance of around P15,500 and reimburse the publication’s expenses for the  UP Solidaridad Bi-annual Congress (SoliCon) and the General Assembly of Student Councils (GASC) three years ago.

With limited access to institutional funds, Frontliner relies on self-funding from members and income-generating projects to support its presswork. Members also lend their personal equipment for coverage.

Frontliner also continues to navigate operational challenges. Despite being a student publication, the UPDEPPO administration expects Frontliner to operate and register as an organization.

Despite these challenges, Alday expressed the publication’s commitment to its continued operations.
